North
Carolina Business Named First
U.S. Distributor of Grisoft
Anti-Virus Software.
Walling Data Systems has been
designated the first United
States Authorized Distributor
of the AVG Anti-Virus™
software, created by Grisoft.
They will also provide service
to Canada. Walling, celebrating
their 10th anniversary this
year, is based in Claremont,
North Carolina. With the opening
of their new retail service
center in 1998, they evolved
to become one of the area’s
most respected full-service
IT sales and service sources.
Grisoft was founded in 1991
in the Czech Republic by software
developer Jan Gritzbach. Grisoft,
Incorporated, the U.S. branch,
was founded 1998 in Delaware
and now has sales and support
operations in both New Jersey
and California. The main focus
of the company continues to
be innovation in the detection
of viruses, and protection
for computers. Their AVG Anti-Virus
software has been on the market
for over ten years.
Peter Lipa, Grisoft USA President,
states that "We have
worked with Luke Walling and
the excellent staff at Walling
Data Systems for over two
years. During this time, they
have consistently shown their
dedication to customer service
and the AVG Anti-Virus product
line. It is their energy and
their customer focus which
have led us to take this next
step in the relationship between
our two companies."
According to Grisoft US Operation’s
Lynn Pittman, "Luke Walling
and his staff take an inordinate
amount of time to educate
themselves and their clients
about the advantages of our
software. Because of this
knowledge, Walling Data Systems
is able to provide a superior
level of technical support
to AVG Anti-Virus users. Walling
is the top reseller of AVG
Anti-Virus software in the
United States."
The AVG Anti-Virus software
is unique in that it shields
computers from viruses, trojans
and worms with a multi-level
approach that is more comprehensive
than most protection programs.
After using an extensive preprocessing
procedure to scan data for
patterns of virus code, AVG
moves on to examine files
with generic detection that
roots out new strains or variants
of known viruses. Next, two
levels of heuristic analysis
are performed. The dynamic
level uses code emulation
to evaluate in a secure virtual
environment the behavior of
the program or file being
tested. Static heuristic analysis
locates programming code that
is typical for certain types
of virus propagation. Finally,
AVG performs an integrity
check. Certain data associated
with each scanned file is
stored in its internal integrity
database and used to heal
infected files, potentially
restoring information which
may have been lost during
infection. Lynn Pittman further
sums up the AVG advantage
by stating that "Grisoft
employs some of the most respected
virus researchers in the world,
has a strong development staff
and our product is not a drain
on computer system resources."
This lack of resource drain
makes AVG suitable for use
with a wider variety of computers,
opening up new markets of
sales potential.
Grisoft USA began their relationship
with Walling Data Systems
in January of 2002. By March,
Walling had become an Authorized
Reseller. "We have seen
the advantages of AVG first-hand,
and we feel that Grisoft’s
product is by far the most
advanced level of anti-virus
protection available in the
world today," states
Walling President Luke Walling.
"This belief has motivated
our company to market AVG
with great enthusiasm and
take an unprecedented interest
in becoming part of the Grisoft
team. In the computer industry,
our strong customer service
mission is what sets us above
our competitors." Walling
feels that translating that
business sense into a product
that they trust is a natural
progression for his company.
"We are honored to be
chosen as Grisoft’s
first Authorized Distributor
in North America. Our company
can now channel our enthusiasm
of AVG into avenues of marketing
and support that will profit
both of our businesses, and
provide a positive impact
on the product’s image.
Our customer base will increase
and they will benefit from
the extended level of technical
support. We supplement Grisoft’s
24/7 tech team through e-mail
and more importantly, with
personalized, toll-free telephone
contact with our customers."
AVG Anti-Virus is currently
utilized by more than 10 million
users around the world.
